Artificial Leaf Turns Water into Energy, Very Cheap, New Source of Energy

A team of researchers at MIT’s Nocera Lab, headed by Dr. Daniel Nocera, claim that they have invented a durable playing-card sized artificial leaf using inexpensive and readily available such as silicone, electronics and catalysts – therefore making it the first practical artificial leaf technology.image The device is an advanced solar cell, no bigger than a typical playing card, which is left floating in a pool of water. Then, much like a natural leaf, it uses sunlight to split the water into its two core components, oxygen and hydrogen, which are stored in a fuel cell to be used when producing electricity. Nocera's leaf is stable operating continuously for at least 45 hours without a drop in activity in preliminary tests and made of widely available, inexpensive materials like  silicon, electronics and chemical catalysts. It's also powerful, as much as ten times more efficient at carrying out photosynthesis than a natural leaf.

While the technology has innumerable economic, political and environmental implications, it uses in developing nations is worthy of much dissemination. Nocera says that soon enough, a leaf placed in a gallon of water and left in the sun could provide a home with basic electricity for a day. Almost any type of water can be used, including waste water.image

"A practical artificial leaf has been one of the Holy Grails of science for decades," Nocera says in a press release. "We believe we have done it." Nocera claims, solar tech is 10 times more efficient than regular photosynthesis, & that's just the beginning. "Nature is powered by photosynthesis, and I think that the future world will be powered by photosynthesis as well in the form of this artificial leaf."

The artificial leaf shows particular promise as an inexpensive source of electricity for homes of the poor in developing countries. Our goal is to make each home its own power station. One can envision villages in India and Africa not long from now purchasing an affordable basic power system based on this technology."

Indian giant, The Tata Group, has invested significantly in the technology, and is currently working with Daniel Nocera and his company – Sun Catalytix – to commercialize his artificial leaf. According to a company spokesman, the efforts are the company’s latest endeavour to serve the "bottom of the pyramid."

Burn/Create Category (label) specific feeds for Blogger/Blogspot Blogs

Similar Queries :
How to burn or create category/label specific feeds ?
How my site visitors can subscribe to read category specific post ?
How to create different feeds for Categories in Blogger / Blogspot ?

If you said yes, Here is the solution.Blogger Category Label specific feeds

You have a lot of categories (labels) for hundreds of your post?
Do you feel some of your readers/visitors would wish to subscribe only to a category posts in your blog rather than subscribing to all the posts ?
For Wordpress users there are many methods to make it possible but blogger has limited options and so here is the trick.

How to Create Category (Labels) specific Feeds in Blogger

Step 1: Once you decided which Category (label) feeds you want, Copy that Category (label) name as it is. Say your Category name is Games

Step 2 : The Feel URL for specific category must be like below

http://www.YourBlog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Games

Replace YourBlog with your Blog name and Games with your category name. Pls Note that blogger category specific feeds are case sensitive in nature and so Pls copy your category (label) name as it is, In our example its Games and not games. Yes, That capital G matters. No matter if your Category or label name has spaces between words (i.e Fooball Games) just take care of Upper or Lower case.

Thats it, Type this URL in any browser and you will see feeds with all the posts from single & specific category. You can burn these blogger category (label) specific feeds in Feedburner too.

Fastest Internet Connection Broadband VDSL2 now Available – Airtel 50Mbps Plan in India

image Few days back Airtel announced 4mbps 'Impatience' plans. Where speed of  4Mbps is available at Rs.899 Per month (or USD $20). I posted about Google’s 1 Gbps Highspeed fastest Internet connection on Feb 10. Now, Bharti Airtel introduced two more internet plan, which uses the VDSL2 Technology (Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) to provide very high speed data transfer to end users. Promised speeds are 50 Mbps. Yes, 50 Mbps Internet connection is now available in India for end user. Have look at both plans in chart below. The only sad thing is Total download limit, Its just 200 GB for whole month. This can be very less comparing to the speed offered.

VDSL2 PLANS

Speed @ 30 Mbps

Speed @ 50 Mbps

Monthly Rental

Rs. 7999 (or USD$ 177)

Rs. 8999 (or USD$ 200)

Download Limit

200 GB

Value Added Services (VAS)

Parallel Ringing, Website Builder (basic) Unlimited Games on Demand, Online Storage, Anti virus.

Parallel Ringing, Website Builder (basic) Unlimited Games on Demand, Online Storage, Anti virus.

For people having Greed of Speed can go for it for sure. Currently this service is available in Delhi & Gurgaon only, however soon services will be available in other cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Banglore etc.

What is VDSL 2 Technology !

VDSL2 (Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line) is the newest and most advanced standard of DSL broadband wire line communications. It is designed to support the wide deployment of Triple Play services such as voice, video, data, IPTV, high definition television (HDTV) and interactive gaming. VDSL2 also enables customers to stream HD Content anywhere from the internet world as well.

Airtel is the only telecom operator in India to introduce VDSL2 Technology for a very high speed wired Internet connection.

To get an idea about speed, let me explain few usual examples.

You can Download 1 GB data in just around 3 minutes with 50 Mbps connection.
You can watch movies, streaming videos online without any break.
You can Download a Full DVD5 Movie (around 4GB) in 12 to 15 minutes.

Internet Data transfer speeds are at approximately same as speed of Wireless LAN connection. I wonder a day when such speeds will be available with affordable price and Unlimited Data Transfer. I hope this revolution sustains in India.

Paypal Purpose Code for Indian Bank Withdrawals, No need of any Exporter Code Now.

image Farhad Irani from Paypal team has come up again with a wonderful news for Indian PayPal users. He confirmed that there is no need to  get an Import Export code [IEC] for withdrawing funds from their PayPal account to Indian Bank account. The only thing required now is a Purpose code which is way different from an IEC code.

What is PayPal Purpose code?

Purpose code is a five digit alphanumeric code which is to be entered while withdrawing funds from PayPal to your local bank account. This code helps your bank provide information required by the Reserve Bank of India [RBI] to identify the nature of transaction. Well yes, this is the new Law by Indian Regulators.

How to get Purpose Code for PayPal Account?

Well, Purpose Code is not same as IEC (Import Export Code). PayPal requires a small five digit alphanumeric code which gives information about the transactions you have made in bank account to Paypal, Banks & Indian Regulatory. There is no need to make any real efforts to get the Purpose Code.

Just wait upto 3rd March 2010 for requesting withdrawal to your bank account along with a paypal purpose code relevant to your business. You can find the list of the purpose code required by paypal here.

Code Category Description Who should be using it
P0101 / P0104 Export of Goods Value of export bills negotiated / purchased/discounted etc. (covered under GR/PP/SOFTEX/EC copy of shipping bills etc.) eBay merchants, jewelers, sellers of collectibles and other such products through eBay and your own websites / catalogues globally.

Please note: Cross border shipment of goods and services for which you file GR / PP / SOFTEX / EC forms only should be processed with this code. Use P101 if Deutsche Bank is your banker and P0104 if you bank with any other bank

If you have any questions, please check with your bank to help you with the same.

P0301 Travel , Hospitality and Tours Purchases towards travel (Includes purchases of foreign TCs, currency notes etc over the counter, by hotels, hospitals, Emporiums, Educational institutions etc. as well as amount received by TT/SWIFT transfers or debit to Non-Resident account). Online Travel Agents, Airlines, Railways, Buses, Taxicab Services, Hotels, B&Bs and other travel / tourism related sales through PayPal
P0801

P0802

P0803

Information Technology Computer Information Services. Hardware / Software / Data Processing consultancy/implementation If you are an independent / freelance coder / hardware consultant or data processing service provider, or a small business providing such services for websites globally, please use these codes.

For all IT related consulting services where you know you do not need to file a SOFTEX form, please use the appropriate code. 801 for hardware consulting, 802 for software consulting and 803 for data management and processing consulting services

P0805

P0806

P0902 Licensing of creative works Receipts for use, through licensing arrangements, of produced originals or prototypes (such as manuscripts and films) Artists, designers, other creative service providers where the principal revenue mode is license fees, please use this code.

If you produce creative works which you license out for entities overseas, licensing revenues may be classified under this purpose code

P1004 Other services Legal Services If you are providing outsourced law related services
P1005 Accounting, auditing, book keeping and tax consulting services For accounting consulting and accounting services
P1006 Business and management consultancy and public relations services Management / brand consulting and management services can be exported with this purpose code

At a quick look, it seems like Code P0805 suits me.

If you are not sure about your code from the table above,, please contact PayPal customer support by logging into your PayPal account and clicking on ‘contact us’ at the bottom of the page.

If you’ve already withdrawn your money from your Paypal account prior to March 1st, then you’ll have to wait for few days to get the full amount credited back. [No transaction charges or fees will be deducted]. The initial amount you receive back in your PayPal balance will be less than the amount you withdrew; all applicable fees and charges will be credited to your PayPal account separately. Once it’s fully credited back you can initiate a withdrawal request again to your local bank account providing the Purpose Code relevant to your business.

Note : Also, with this new changes in Paypal now Paypal cannot be used for Charity and Donations in India, as there is no Code for Charities.
