Yesterday, i received an email from a friend which describes the meaning of Hanuman Chalisa in English. Lord Hanuman known also as 'Anjaneya' (son of Anjana) or Maruti (or Maruti nandan), is one of the most popular concepts of devotees of God in Hinduism and one of the most important personalities in the Indian epic, the Ramayana. His most famous feat, as described in the Hindu epic scripture the Ramayana, was leading an army of monkeys to fight the demon King Ravana. He is also referred to as Bajrang Bali (Sanskrit: Vajranga) because his body was hard like a (vajra).
Hanuman Chalisa is a devotional song based on Lord Hanuman as the model devotee. It is an Awadhi poem written by Tulsidas, is most well known piece of literature apart from the Ramacharitamanas. Hanuman Chalisa is a must do prayer in Hinduism. Many of people recite it as a prayer every day (or every week, generally on Tuesdays or Saturdays). It is believed that one must pray to Lord Hanuman on Tuesday & Saturday. One more thing believed that the person who chants the Hanuman Chalisa 100 times daily for 100 days will become free from the cycle of birth and death and enjoys the highest bliss, as stated in verse 38. Each of the 40 Verses of the Hanuman Chalisa convey one particular form of blessing, depending on the Bhav or Shraddha of the devotee, the fruits of the particular verse are attained.
